Set during the early days of World War II, Knotts plays Henry Limpet, a henpecked bookkeeper in Brooklyn whose only pleasure in life is his all-consuming interest in aquatic life. Limpet (1964), an odd combination of live-action and animation which works as both a fantasy musical-romance (the songs by Sammy Fain and Harold Adamson include 'I Wish I Were a Fish') and an underwater espionage thriller. The strangest one of all, however, is The Incredible Mr. Chicken (1966), a haunted house farce, and The Love God? (1969), in which he inherits a girlie magazine and becomes a national sex symbol. While he is most famous for his hilarious portrayal of small town deputy sheriff Barney Fife on The Andy Griffith Show, his film career is distinguished by a handful of truly eclectic comedies like The Ghost and Mr. Just check out the many internet shrines and personal pages dedicated to him on the worldwide web. With Linklater at the helm, this sounds like it could be one of those remakes that actually works, especially with a cast like this.Believe it or not, Don Knotts enjoys a vast cult following. But if we had to guess, following his beloved turn as Olaf in Frozen, he's probably voicing an animated character. Hart, Key and Peele would voice some of the creatures under the sea, but for some reason it's not specified as to what kind of role Gad would play. Meanwhile McBride and Silverman would also have a couple roles in the live-action world as well.

Hamm is being lined up to play the human villain, a shrewd businessman who mines the ocean floor. As for the rest of the cast, they're divided between live-action characters and voices for animated roles. When he finds himself turned into a fish, he sets out to save his town and the sea world, where he'll obviously learning valuable lessons along the way. The original story has been changed slightly as this version will follow Galifianakis playing Larry Limpet, a bearded beach bum trying to save the fish population. The Wrap also pegs Sarah Silverman, Josh Gad, Kevin Hart and sketch comedy masters Keegan Michael Key and Jordan Peele ('Key & Peele'). Now the cast around leading man Zach Galifianakis is starting to fill out with names like Jon Hamm, Danny McBride and more comedy gems. Earlier this year we learned that Linklater was still involved after all these years with the filmmaker's Waking Life and A Scanner Darkly collaborators Femke Wolting and Tommy Pallotta working on the animation side of things.
